Ground breaking for Texas Health Presbyterian Cancer CenterSeptember 6, 2013Loving and faithful God, as we break ground today we are reminded of the 1,000s of people who have brought us to this day.  We give thanks for all the women and men who came before us – those who were here from the beginning and all those, including each of us, who followed in their footsteps to help Presbyterian Hospital become a place of healing for this community.  As we break ground today we are aware that we stand on holy ground – holy for what it was in the past as a children’s home– holy for what it became as a behavioral health center – and holy for the future as a cancer center for this community.  God of creation and love, move over this land and bless all those who have had a part in the dreaming, planning, designing, preparation and building – move over this land so that your spirit may offer support and guidance along the way.  We pray for all those who will labor in this place that they and we may be aware of those who will one day be cared for on this site. On this special day, we give thanks for the beginning of this Cancer Center and all that it promises for people in need.  God of wonder, may we be mindful that from the first shovel of dirt today to the final ribbon cutting ceremony next year, that we may enjoy the creation of this new cancer center as a journey of hope and love.  This we pray in your holy name.  Amen.
