2013-05-22_GSESCampusLife_McWhorter0402edit-300x199On September 11th, Good Shepherd Episcopal School will present Texas Health Resources a check for $10,000 to help develop a butterfly garden outside the new cancer center at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas. The school is presenting the donation in honor of Erin Prendergast, founder of On Butterflies Wings, a project whose mission is to bring hope to breast cancer patients and to  benefit the breast care program. Erin is a registered nurse with the Women’s Diagnostic and Breast Center at Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas.  She  is also a certified Dallas County Master Gardener and volunteered to teach butterfly gardening as a parent at Good Shepherd in 2010.  Erin asked the kindergarten students to help her with an On Butterflies Wings project raising butterflies and decorating terracotta pots for use in the chrysalis baskets sold  to raise money for the organization. This led to a school wide project spearheaded by the 8th grade to raise the funds for the healing garden at the hospital.

The check will be presented to Jay McAuley,  President of Texas Health Resources Foundationa followed by a butterfly release celebration.
